          The February 2012 issue of the Piano Technicians Journal was dedicated to Susan Graham, RPT, and features several of her articles. This lacing needle tip is from an audio recording John Parham made, and is one of several tips featured in the Susan Graham issue of the Journal.

          The December 2011 issue of the Piano Technicians Journal has a short explanation of this voicing technique in the Tools Tips and Techniques section of the magazine. It also contains a longer, feature article that provides more detail.

          This will help to hear the difference in beat rates of stacked contiguous major thirds that exhibit approximately a 4:5 beat ratio. For best effect, listen with stereo speakers and one ear facing them. Note: many pianos won't perfectly mimic these speeds

          Another listening aid to help learn to hear the subtle differences in the beat speeds of chromatic major thirds in an F-F Equal Temperament. Once again, these speeds are only theoretical and the tonality on an actual piano is different.
